About RAADA
Rehabilitation Association and Agriculture Development for Afghanistan (RAADA) started its humanitarian activities in the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in 2002. As a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), RAADA started working in Herat Province and extended its activities in western region of Afghanistan (Herat, Farah, Ghor and Badghis Provinces) with the Vision “Poverty no Longer Exists in the World” and the Mission Statement “Mitigating Poverty and Contributing to Reconstruction and Development Process in Afghanistan through Community-based Solutions and Interventions”. It has an expert board of directors who lay the policy ground of the organization and functions through Program, Finance, HR, M&E and other relevant departments having transparent procedures. Its main office is in Herat city and has 2 sub offices at district level (Kohsan and Zindajan) and has access to all districts in Herat Province. Since RAADA has close coordination with the government and submits regular reports, it was appreciated by Ministry of Economy in 2014 for its efforts to promote sericulture in Afghanistan and good governance. Furthermore, RAADA has close coordination with governmental departments and has the membership of Herat Civil Society Institution Network, ACBAR Twining Program, WASH Cluster, Food Security and Agriculture Cluster (FSAC), Humanitarian Response Team (HRT) and Provincial Development Council (PDC).
Having a good analysis of the community needs, qualified staff and sound management procedures, RAADA has designed and implemented more than 75 projects on Livelihood, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Human Rights, Women Empowerment, Disaster Risk Reduction, Water Supply, Health and Hygiene, with the financial support CAID, JICA, Tawanmandi-DFID, Counterpart international, UNHCR, WARCHILD UK, UNFAO, WFP, Italian Cooperation, IRC, WHH and CRS.
